We design, host and manage websites for
cruisers
Unique
email updating of your site
With our unique website service for
cruisers we set up the site for you and you keep it up to date
simply by sending us an email, we do the rest. You do not have
to have any technical knowledge of designing and building your
own website, nor do you have to maintain the site
yourself. Our website service for cruisers is also very
competitively priced and we believe unbeatable.

Our Managed sites
-
Our sites are updated by emails you
send us, this means you can send position and journal
updates from anywhere you can access email, including your
onboard systems
-
You do not have the hassle, or need
the technical knowledge of keeping
the site up to date yourself.
-
Our sites can contain many high quality photographs, again you
only need to email them to us (limited number of photos per
journal)
-
Fully managed by onpassage.com
we remove all the hassle yet provide fantastic looking sites.
By sending updates by email
you are able to use either your onboard email system (HF radio
email or satellite systems), devices such as Pocketmail, or
simply an
internet cafe to keep the site up to date. You don't need any
special software or experience and you don't have to spend hours
trying to keep your site up to date while you are cruising.
This system gives the added
bonus that if you are on an ocean passage, and have onboard
email, you are able to keep your website and position up to
date.
What do our website options
provide?
We set up an initial website
with the following pages tailored for you:
- Home page
- this page is your main page presenting you, your
yacht and your voyage plans etc. It tells visitors to your
site what the website is all about.
- The yacht
- a description, photo's and details of your yacht.
- The crew
- who you are complete
with photo's as required.
- Location
- your current vessel location shown on a map complete with
a log of previous position reports. You can also
record your planned itinerary.
- Journals
- this is where you
describe your passages, experiences or in fact anything you
want to write about. You email us a new journal on a regular
basis and we add it to your website. All journals are
indexed on a separate index page for ease of finding
relevant journals.
- Contact Us
- This page give visitors details on how they can contact
you. Normally just an email address but some cruisers like
to add other contact information such as Sat phones etc.
- Extra pages
- If you want to have extra pages (for example, maybe your
children want their own section, or you want a section on
how you built your yacht etc) then a small charge is added
for this. (we think that a kids page is an ideal addition
for cruising families, it enables kids to keep in touch,
publish projects, form part of onboard schooling and can be
a valuable way of keeping links with schools at home)
What will the website
look like?
We use our own design which is
tailored for you. As an example we have created
a website that shows the main features that you will get for
your own site. Please note that ALL photo's and images will be
either ones provided by yourself, or if you wish we can add some
standard ones for you.
See our
demo site here
What is the cost?
We charge a straight monthly fee
with no setup costs or hidden extras. Below are
the standard prices, if you want extra pages please let us know
what is wanted and we will quote for you.
Free Initial Set up - includes the creation of your website and all of the web pages described above. You have an
opportunity to review, revise and correct the site where
necessary. This becomes your core site. There is a
limit of 1500 words and 4 photographs per page (this ensures
your site remains fast and efficient). This
includes an initial journal entry if required.
Posting a journal - we
enable you to post regular journal updates simply by emailing
the text and photos to us, we do all the rest. The journal
should be up to a maximum of 1500 words with 4 photographs per
page. This enables you to
describe your travels and experiences as you progress along your
route.
Posting a position update
- we enable you to log your current position simply by sending
an email with your latest position so that everyone
can follow your progress. In addition you can post your planned
itinerary so other cruising yachts can keep up to date with your
travel plans.

Our system provides an
easy way to own and manage a website whilst cruising. It significantly reduces
hassles and problems associated with setting up and managing
your own website, yet still provides great looking and
informative sites.
