“PEER GYNT II” a Bruce Roberts Offshore 44 foot cruising
yacht is a proven blue water cruiser. She was built
originally with a circumnavigation in mind, and has
recently completed a semi-circumnavigation from New
Zealand to the UK. Before leaving New Zealand in the
year 2000, she was fully refitted in preparation for
ocean cruising and living aboard for long periods. She
was re-engined with a powerful Yanmar engine and had a
dive compressor fitted. She had all her through hulls
replaced with tough non-corroding “Marelon” fittings.
Her main mast rigging was replaced and her sail wardrobe
was updated. She was fitted out for tropical cruising
and has a large wardrobe of covers and awnings. She has
an Aries windvane self steering gear with controls lead
to the cockpit. Before
leaving New Zealand she obtained the obligatory
“Category One” survey for offshore vessels which checks
construction, safety and equipment.
