Warnings

  1. Tropical Storms can, and do, develop out of season; the dates of the storm seasons opposite are a guide only as storms may develop outside of these dates (during the official storm season dates, storm risk is very high, outside of these dates storm risk is low but not zero, especially the period just before and just after the official dates).

  2. You should visit all sites listed below for your area see Regional and Global warnings below. (some sites are slow at reporting storms).

  3. Always check the date of the report is for the current day.

  4.  UKMO regional forecasts below give warnings of developing storms as well as existing storms.

  5. Check in the right hand column for Tropical Storm season status

  6. See our skippers responsibility statement at bottom of page.

Current storms, and developing storms, are listed in the left hand pane of this site. Click on cyclone in left hand pane and then click on track map for detail and forecast of any active cyclone.

QuikSCAT Storms

When in this site, scroll down to "Current Storms", (check date is today) and view status for each region. Unfortunately it does not give Lat./Long. of storm but at least you get name of storm and approx. location which you can then cross reference on other sites.

Click on the current storm "latest" link for current wind maps. which show wind speed arrows colour coded in knots for wind strength.

World Met Org

This page can be slow to load. World Meteorological Organisation - Cyclone warnings, click on cyclone symbol (if any) when you get to the site  for details of any active cyclone. Note:- This site only registers when a full cyclone is declared.
