Maintaining sails whilst long term cruising is one of those essentials.
If you are able to undertake repairs yourself, not only are you more
self reliant, but it will save you a lot of money. Your alternatives
when in remote areas are limited to finding another cruiser willing to
help out , or trying to find someone ashore. Onpassage.com plan to offer
some help in this area soon with advice on what to carry and how to make
repairs (we ran a sail repair service for other yachts whilst cruising).
