The following text

Thoroughly researched and
updated firsthand by the author, "Cruising Guide to
Western Florida: Fourth Edition" is the most detailed
source available on the facilities and waters of the
Sunshine State's western shore. It contains current
information on
• Navigation data •
Anchorage locales along the entire shore • Marinas •
Shoreside dining and other attractions
Western Florida offers a
tranquil alternative to the fast-paced life-style of the
eastern coast. From the slow-moving Manatee River to the
wide-open spans of Tampa Bay to the multitude of islands
and inlets between Cape Sable and Naples, Young leads
readers both to the untouched beauty of the area and to
its popular resorts and marinas. A perfect deckside
guide to the waters west of the peninsula, the Cruising
Guide to Western Florida leaves very little unexplored
in the waters from Flamingo to the Big Bend.
As in his previous books,
Young furnishes dozens of invaluable maps, photographs,
and chart references. Intriguing historical profiles and
coastal folklore give visitors the flavor of the region.
Sections on unsafe areas and shoals help boaters avoid
dangerous waters. |

A
review by an Amazon customer
An extremely well written
book with lots of pictures and charts. I used it to sail
my 28' boat from Coconut Grove to Key West with my wife
and 9 month old son. It's great for gunkholing and
points out many of the unknown facts about the local
area. And besides, Frank's a nice man...I can say that
on authority as I have an autographed copy

This
book provides reliable instructions and lively
commentary about travelling from the Port of Miami all
the way to the Dry Tortugas. Boaters may choose one of
two routes to the Florida Keys, the inside route via the
Intracoastal Waterway or the offshore option through
Hawk Channel. In both cases, the authors pinpoint and
assess obstructions, anchorages, marinas, fuel supplies,
and other facilities for cruisers. The book also
contains first-hand evaluations of restaurants, cultural
attractions, and historical sites, including the many
things to see and do in Key West |
