The Channel Islands |
|
Author: |
Nick Heath |
|
Published: |
Imray,
Laurie, Norie & Wilson - December 2000 |
ISBN: |
0852884613 |
|

This
pilot, compiled by the Royal Cruising Club Pilotage
Foundation, covers the Channel Islands: Alderney,
Guernsey, Sark, Herm and Jersey. It also includes the
off-lying rocks of Les Ecrehou and the Minquiers. The
Channel Islands is the successor to Malcolm Robson’s
Channel Islands Pilot which provided exceptionally
detailed pilotage amongst the islands using transits and
bearings. Nick Heath’s sailing directions are
constructed along similar lines, using transits on
conspicuous rocks, headlands and buildings to shape
courses between and around the islands. Much of the
information has been compiled with the assistance of
local pilots and yachtsmen. Each transit is numbered
and, with the support of annotated sea-level
photographs, many of which are in colour, and clearly
marked medium scale charts, is described step by step. |

This
new pilot has been developed from the sixth edition of
the North Brittany pilot and now covers the west side of
the Cotentin peninsula from Cherbourg, the Channel
Islands and the previously covered coast from St Malo to
Ouessant. The pilot is published in full colour with
superbly detailed charts and nearly 200 photographs from
both the air and sea level. This is
the essential cruising companion for yachts exploring
the drying harbours and ports little more than a day or
two’s sailing from the South Coast of England |
