Towed generators are sometimes
combined with a wind generator. These combination models have a
generator that either has wind blades attached or they can be removed
and a towing configuration can be set up using the the same generator.
Other companies build towed only models. We have listed companies below
that supply each type. |

Water Towed Generators |
|
Ampair |
The most effective means of generating
electricity at sea. Generates approx. 1amp/knot (12v) @ average cruising
speeds. Rope transmits power of spinning turbine to on-board generator.
|
|
Aquagen |
Aquagen are water towed generators
suitable for all sailboats and sailing speeds in blue and coastal
waters. They can provide sufficient power to satisfy all power
requirements whilst under sail. The towed turbine travels 1-3 metres
below the surface and can therefore be used in shallow coastal waters as
well as on ocean crossings. Two models are available |
|
Duogen |
"Towing a water impeller as you sail is
the most efficient and effective way to recharge your yacht's
batteries". |
