Alternative energy systems for yachts include: Wind generators; towed generators (an impellor is towed in the water behind the yacht); shaft generators (an alternator is driven by the rotation of the prop shaft whilst sailing); wind and towed combined (some wind generators can be converted simply and quickly into towed generators); solar panels. This section does not cover intelligent chargers, alternators, generators etc as this section concentrates on alternative energy only.

Deciding on which system / systems to employ on a yacht depends on several factors. We have included online articles in each section that discusses these systems to help the reader to choose which system is most suitable for their situation. We will add articles on the subject as they become available and extend the list to include other considerations soon.
